Joe Biden denies allegations of sexual assault
"This never happened. I
don’t know why she is saying it".
On Friday, Joe Biden
denied a sexual assault allegation made against him by a former member of his
senate staff, making his first statement on an issue that has become unpleasant
considering his campaign running for president.
The former vice president
has spent about 20 minutes on an interview on “Morning Joe” denying over and
over the allegations accusing him of sexual assault in a hallway back in the
1990s by one of his senate staff Tara Reade.
“They aren’t true. This
never happened” said Biden on a statement on “Morning Joe”.
Biden was under heavy
pressure from Democrats to handle the situation personally after his campaign
denied it while some prominent members of the Democratic Party started to have questions
about the issue.
“I don’t remember any
type of complaint she may have made. It was 27 years ago. I don’t remember, nor
does anyone else that I’m aware of the fact that I don’t remember any complaint
ever been made” Biden said.
Tara Reade claims that
in 1993, when she was a member of the Senate staff, Joe Biden put his hands on
her skirt and penetrated her in a congressional hallway.
However, Biden denies
that and says that no one has ever made any similar allegation and why exactly
after 27 years and in a point where he is running for the presidency of the United
States of America.
“I’m not going to
question her motive or get into that at all. I don’t know why she is saying
this, I don’t know after 27 years this gets raised. I don’t understand that”.
Tara said that she did
raised some pf the issue with her supervisor and senior staffer from Biden’s
office at that time. Nonetheless, they both man and a woman- have said,
unequivocally, that she never came to them and complained or raised issues.
